UPS Runtime Calculator
Add up your actual gear — PC, monitors, router, NAS — and see how many minutes of battery each UPS in our database would give you, not at the full-load figure printed on the box. Tells you the minimum capacity you need and flags anything you should never plug in.

How These Tools Work

01
Same data as the ratings
Each tool reads the specification set we built for the corresponding category review — the same numbers, updated at the same time. No separate, stale copy.
02
The math is published
Every calculator shows the formula it uses and where the constants come from. If our model is wrong, you should be able to see that it’s wrong.
03
Estimates stay conservative
Where we have to approximate, we round against the product rather than for it. A tool that flatters the hardware is worse than no tool.
04
Nothing is collected
All calculation happens in your browser. Nothing you enter is transmitted, stored, or used to build a profile — there’s no form to submit and no email gate.

Why We Built These

Most buying advice stops at “here’s the best one.” That’s fine when a category has a single right answer, but home office equipment usually doesn’t — the right UPS depends on what you’re plugging into it, and the right dock depends on a laptop you own and we don’t.

These tools exist to close that gap. They take the part of the decision that’s specific to your setup, do the arithmetic, and hand back a shortlist with the reasoning attached. Where a product doesn’t work for you, we say which spec disqualified it rather than quietly dropping it from the list.

They also serve as a check on our own work. A scoring model that produces obviously wrong recommendations once you plug in real numbers is a scoring model that needs fixing — and making the tools public makes that visible to everyone, including us.

Found a bug or a bad assumption? These models are approximations, and approximations break at the edges. If a result looks wrong against your own measurements, we want to know — it’s the fastest way for these to get better.

Calculator results are estimates derived from manufacturer specifications researched at time of publication, and are intended for planning purposes rather than as engineering guidance. Always verify critical figures — particularly electrical capacity and display compatibility — against the manufacturer’s own documentation for your specific model before purchasing.
